Pistons reserve guard Will Bynum is struggling with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss a week or so. The training staff is hopeful it won't be a long-term issue, and in the meantime Detroit has been able to use Ben Gordon and Tracy McGrady at backup point guard behind starter Rodney Stuckey.

Daye To Start At Power Forward

The Pistons have named Austin Daye their starting power forward to begin the 2010-11 NBA season. Daye, entering his second season, beat out veteran Charlie Villanueva after the position became open when fellow NBA sophomore Jonas Jerebko tore his Achilles tendon.

Extremely thin for the power forward spot, Daye will be tested Wednesday at New Jersey when the Pistons face a frontcourt-heavy Nets team. By no means is this lineup set in stone, as Detroit continues to work several other players into its rotation, including rookie big man Greg Monroe and veteran swingman Tracy McGrady, who missed all but eight minutes of preseason.

Pistons Missing Several Players

For a second season in a row, it appears the Pistons are going to have to make adjustments on the fly in terms of their rotation. The team is already missing injured swingmen Jonas Jerebko and Terrico White, and they played last night without the services of veterans Rip Hamilton and Tracy McGrady.

McGrady, still recovering from multiple injuries from the past two seasons, was given the night off by John Kuester, Pistons Head Coach. Hamilton, meanwhile, returned home for the birth of his second child.

In addition, veteran big man Chris Wilcox remains day-to-day with a sore hamstring. It's unfortunate timing as Detroit is anxious to see Wilcox this preseason, particularly now that Jerebko is out for essentially the season. It's possible he could challenge veteran Charlie Villanueva for the starting power forward spot.

Kuester says he'll continue to experiment with various lineups as the Pistons head into the regular season at the end of the month.
